Profile of China (Mianyang) Science & Technology City International High-Tech Expo

       China (Mianyang) Science & Technology City International High-Tech Expo (“High-Tech Expo”hereinafter) was initiated in October, 2013 and co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Sichuan Province. It has been recognized as a state-level international science and technology expo with influence both at home and abroad. High-Tech Expo also serves as an important vehicle that facilitates the National Innovation-Driven Development Strategy, boosts the trial of comprehensive innovation and reform and the military-civilian integration strategy in a systemic way, and fuels the innovation-driven, open-minded, and breakthrough-oriented development of Mianyang Science & Technology City, the one and only science and technology city in China.

       Four sessions of High-Tech Expo have been staged in Mianyang to date, and it has emerged as an empowering platform that enables exchanges of the trial of national comprehensive innovation and reform, boosts the exhibition and exchanges of international and domestic military-civilian integration, facilitates the display and exchanges of domestic and overseas scientific and technological achievements and talents, prompts the issue of national scientific and technological information, policies, and projects, and drives the investment and promotion of high and new technologies and strategic emerging industries. Efforts have been made to shape High-Tech Expo as an internationally renowned exhibition brand highlighting military-civilian integration. From 2014 to 2016, High-Tech Expo has been awarded the title of “China’s Top 10 Exhibition Brands” on three occasions, and was identified as a leading exhibition guided and supported by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China in 2015, and is one of the two major exhibitions of Sichuan on par with the Western China International Fair.

During the four previous sessions, 2,107 projects have been signed, involving RMB 345 billion; 56 countries (regions) have participated in, with some may having attended the events more than once. With 255 thousand square meters of the total exhibition area, the four sessions have welcomed 3,088 exhibitors with 6,899 projects on display, which have attracted 1.96 million attendees, including 270 thousand professional ones. These events have served as a role model, driver, and booster for the deeper implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, the systemic advancement of the trial of comprehensive innovation and reform, and the military-civilian integration strategy.
