Cushing Builds Again But Stays Below Average

Cushing added 0.55M barrels this week to reach 24.3M. That is a build, but the hub still sits 1.84M below its five-year average. The Oklahoma vault is filling slowly, not glutting.

The wider picture stays tight on the product side. Gasoline drew 1.68M and distillate drew 2.25M, both well under their five-year averages. Commercial crude built 0.92M, leaving it 7.79M above the five-year mark, so the tightness is in fuels, not crude.

The SPR slipped another 0.79M to 283.8M, now 151.17M under its five-year average. That reserve is a shadow of its former self and offers little cushion if a product squeeze turns real. Watch distillate into heating season.
